Sinhalese or Sinhala is the Indo-European language spoken by the Sinhalese, the majority ethnic group of Sri Lanka, by about 16 million people.
Although homosexual behavior in the pre-colonial era was normalized, at present the situation of the LGBT community of Sri Lanka is not good, since the current legislation, inherited from British law, condemns the anal intercourse “against nature” up to 10 years in prison.
