Polish is an Indo-European language spoken mainly in Poland and countries around. With fifty million speakers is the official language of Poland and Lithuania area.

The situation of the LGBT community in Poland is bad both because of its Catholicism and because of its Soviet past. There is no complete legislation against discrimination or against hate speech. Equal marriage is prohibited by the constitution and civil unions are not allowed either. Opinion polls on sexual diversity show widespread rejection, and the frequent homophobic statements of politicians do not help at all. In 2001 the first parade for equality was held in Warsaw, although in 2004 and 2005 the city’s permission to celebrate it was not obtained. Since 2006 pride is celebrated regularly.

    Lesba is one of how the Polish language has incorporated the word lesbian. From what we have been told, it is an expression with negative connotations and, in general, is considered offensive. Instead, the expression lesbijka is more neutral and preferred to refer to lesbians in Poland.

    The Spanish translation of the Polish word Lesbijka is lesbian. It is a neutral expression, so its use is preferred, as opposed to the term Lesba, which is considered offensive.
