Polish is an Indo-European language spoken mainly in Poland and countries around. With fifty million speakers is the official language of Poland and Lithuania area.
The situation of the LGBT community in Poland is bad both because of its Catholicism and because of its Soviet past. There is no complete legislation against discrimination or against hate speech. Equal marriage is prohibited by the constitution and civil unions are not allowed either. Opinion polls on sexual diversity show widespread rejection, and the frequent homophobic statements of politicians do not help at all. In 2001 the first parade for equality was held in Warsaw, although in 2004 and 2005 the city’s permission to celebrate it was not obtained. Since 2006 pride is celebrated regularly.
