Spanish

Vena

streak (personality trait). Term used in Western Andalusia, especially in Cadiz (Spain), to point to homosexual man. As the term Venazo, it is used to describe a congenital, intimate and non-obvious characteristic of a person, which at a given moment gains protagonism, as for example “tiene vena de emprendedor” (he has entrepreneur streak) or “cuando baila le sale la vena marica” (when he dance comes out his fag streak). Following this last example, the origin of the slang would be the change from “vena marica” (fag streak” to “vena” (streak) metonymy quite common in slang.

Variations Venazo (augmentative for Vena).
