Lesbian Slang Collection
Lepakko. Lesbian Dictionary (Finland).
The evil or the beauty.
Lepakko in the Finnish language means bat and is a slang word for dyke. In this case, there is little information on the origin of the use of this word and the explanations are unconvincing. Some say lesbo word is difficult to pronounce in Finnish and that is why they used Lepakko and others used by the phonetic similarity between lesbo and Lepakko.
We found no similarity in the pronunciation of the two words in Finnish and the difficulty is not credible. What we have found is the symbolism of the bat in Finland as an image of the devil and the lesbian relationships between vampires in the literature of that genre. While this, nor convinces us too much.
It is quite common to use animal names as lesbian or gay slang, examples not lacking in our dictionaries, and the closest thing we have found is in the German language with the expression Dragoner, which translated into English -is not difficult- is a dragon and it is slang for Butch. And not that a dragon looks like a bat, but perhaps a woman who looks like a man is not attractive to these yokel men and submissive women, so with this expression they would deride the appearance of certain lesbian comparing his face with the face of a bat or dragoon. In addition, it the case of the Finns and his unique sense of humor, reflected in their vocabulary for sissies, not be surprising.
So we wanted to offer a counterpoint, because beauty is always relative, and the female bat is necessarily beautiful and attractive to male straight bats and butch bats, or after Pixar Animation Studios filtering.
So we welcome to Lepakko in origami style.
